The seminar on “How to use the Language Integrated Query (LINQ)” was conducted by the Department of computing & informatics on 24.02.2020 at L-201 from 09.00 am to 10.00 am. The program was convened by Dr. Mohammed Abbas, Head C&I and coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Nasar, Assistant Professor.
The seminar started with welcome address given by Dr. Mohammed Abbas, Head C&I, and Convener. The students of MIS, IST and Business majors have attended the seminar.
The seminar commenced with Introduction to LINQ
LINQ (Language Integrated Query) is uniform query syntax in C# and VB.NET to retrieve data from different sources and formats. It is integrated in C# or VB, thereby eliminating the mismatch between programming languages and databases, as well as providing a single querying interface for different types of data sources.
For example, SQL is a Structured Query Language used to save and retrieve data from a database. In the same way, LINQ is a structured query syntax built in C# and VB.NET to retrieve data from different types of data sources such as collections, ADO.Net DataSet, XML Docs, web service and MS SQL Server and other databases.
LINQ queries return results as objects. It enables you to uses object-oriented approach on the result set and not to worry about transforming different formats of results into objects.
The presenter explains about application of LINQ, where to implement and how to implement LINQ in C# practically. Two practical example also demonstrated.
The program ended with question and answer session and a vote of thanks by Dr. Mohammad Nasar- Coordinator.
