Chairman Message
Let me take this opportunity to welcome all of you to Mazoon College. Mazoon was established in the year 1999, with an objective to make available in Oman, high quality educational programs as per the requirements of the country. As I have been actively involved in all stages of development of Mazoon College, I would like to affirm that our main goal has always been to develop a curriculum that are of international stature and of high quality.
Besides this it has always been our aim to empower women to develop themselves and through them to enable their family, community and the nation to grow. In order to achieve our aims and objectives a strong collaboration was very much required in the area of higher education. Accordingly we signed an affiliation agreement in April 1999 with the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST), U.S.A.
Initially the college was offering only two-year Associates Degree programs but after seeing our stable growth andsuccess, the Ministry of Higher Education granted us approval to run 4-year Bachelor Degree Programs and an M. Tech program in Computer Science. I am very proud to tell that we have become one of the only three private colleges in Oman that have been authorized by the Ministry of Higher Education to offer their own Bachelor Degrees.
We now offer four-year Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Information Science & Technology, Management Information Systems, Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in English. I can verify that all these programs are of comparable quality to the Bachelor Degree Programs offered at MST. The foundation program (IEP-Intensive English Language Program) prepares the students to enter the Academic programs of their choice, by enabling them to achieve English proficiency. The college also offers a variety of Training and Short Programs to cater to the needs of the Government, public and private sector organizations according to the standards prescribed.
The college offers full-time study only for ladies but the evening session starting from 4 pm till 9 pm is open for both men and women. The college is proud to state that nearly 50% of our faculties in academics have PhDs and the rest possess Masters Degrees and all of them are very well experienced. We encourage and expect quality teaching and research from all of our teachers. In addition, we have state of the art computer facilities and we have bought the necessary software as per the educational and research needs of the college. The students are provided with various facilities in the college like, high-speed Internet access, recreation area, prayer area etc., which are all exclusively available for girls during the daytime. The women students of the college are also provided with residential facilities and transportation.
