Foundation Program

It is needless to mention that General Foundation Department is the most essential department at Mazoon College. It largely determines students’ success in the rest of their academic courses once they are provided with solid bases in English proficiency, mathematics, computing, and study skills.

The General Foundation Program defines both its vision and mission through reference to the mission of Mazoon College.  As the title of the program suggests, it basically builds a solid foundation for students. The very idea of an academic foundation is to be understood in terms of developing skills and encouraging critical thinking. The GFP mission is to integrate all the students into a coordinated, communicative and professional academic environment in order to maximize their potential as far as their English proficiency, relevant mathematical and computing skills are concerned. It aims to enable them to approach their academic studies with confidence.

Stability is one the most prominent features that has made GFD perform its role in providing students with the necessary academic support successfully. Almost all GFP staff members have been working in the department for a considerable number of years. This has enabled GFD lecturers to profoundly understand students’ needs, to be familiar with the syllabi, and to be part of the educational institution culture. The absence of turnover among GFD teachers indicates that they are absolutely satisfied with their work environment and leadership.

The overall objective of Mazoon College General Foundation Program is to provide students with excellent command of English language, relevant mathematical knowledge, and effective computer skills. In GFD, students are grouped into three levels according to their performance in an in-house placement test. Each one of these three levels last for 16 weeks (one semester). Courses offered are included in the following table:
