Mazoon College conducted a structured orientation program for its new students on 18th September 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in Hall A on the First Floor. The program was organized by the Student Affairs Department in collaboration with the General Foundation Program. In addition to around 170 new students, the program was attend by the Dean and the heads of the academic and non-academic departments.
At the beginning, the audience listened to a recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran. That was followed by a welcoming a speech from Dr. Khalfan Al-Masruri. In his speech, Dr. Al-Masruri briefed the new students about the varied academic and non-academic departments at the College and encouraged them to excel in their studies.
After that, Ms. Zakiya Al-Busaidi, Ministry of Higher Education representative, gave a detailed presentation on the rules and regulation related to internal scholarships. Ms. Al-Busaidi also directed scholarship students to update their personal and academic information on the Ministry of Higher Education website.
Next, Mr. Mohamed El-Amin, the Head of the General Foundation Program gave a comprehensive presentation on the courses offered by the Program, exemption criteria, assessment plan, grading system, and staffing resources. Mr. El-Amin stressed that the General Foundation Program was an essential transition period between secondary school and tertiary-level education.
Afterward, Mr. Yousif Al-Kamali, who is a Mazoon College graduate, poet, and psychologist by profession, addressed the audience to share with them his success story as an outstanding student. Mr. Al-Kamali’s speech was inspirational and motivating.
At the end, Mr. Ali Al-Hakamani, the Head of the Student Affairs Department instructed his team to hand over Student Handbooks and ID Cards to the new students. The program was concluded by the new students’ tour of the College campus.
